Read: Push

This book inspired the movie Precious, which I haven't seen but will ... eventually. The book was gritty, disturbing, unsettling and also really inspiring. Though the plot might be old as time -- hard-luck teenager with an effed up home life meets a teacher who help her see a future for herself -- it's uniquely told. It's a quick read but one that sticks with you for a while.
